Dubious educational agency backed by Trump and DeVos is stripped of its powers

Reagan National University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is no longer an accredited university. To anyone with half an education, this is no surprise. The only reason the school had received accreditation in the first place was because under previous Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, the dubious Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges & Schools (ACICS) was resurrected to give it the distinction.

Trump-loving West Virginia governor admits he’s on the hook for $700 million loan

Republican Gov. Jim Justice of West Virginia is your run-of-the-mill Trumpian billionaire. He is considered the wealthiest person in West Virginia even though he’s something of a deadbeat, living off of subsidies, and failing ever upward. He mindlessly parrots whatever the conservative culture war persecution complex-of-the-day may be. Like Trump, Justice owns a golf course. And like Trump, Justice has reportedly made his life’s work dodging taxes and not paying his bills.

Son of Jeb! launches campaign by boasting that he’s the only Bush who Donald Trump likes

Did you know there’s another Bush politician? No, not warmongering party guy. Not warmongering scary CIA guy. Not the boring guy that Donald Trump used as a punching bag. It’s the son of Jeb and the grandson of George H.—it’s George P. Bush! The “P” stands for psycho-phant Prescott. George P. has announced he will run for Texas attorney general. He’s got a chance as the current attorney general in Texas is Ken Paxton, and unlike Ken Paxton, P.

Judge orders Betsy DeVos to sit for three-hour deposition to explain rejecting loan forgiveness

Former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has been ordered to sit for a three-hour deposition for lawyers handling a class-action lawsuit. The lawsuit, brought on behalf of around 160,000 student loan borrowers, came from the students defrauded by numerous for-profit colleges across the country. These were organizations like Trump University, where Trump settled a civil lawsuit for $25 million in November 2016.

Explosive new report has witnesses putting Matt Gaetz, an escort, and cocaine in the same hotel room

Florida man Rep. Matt Gaetz is in deep doo doo, as the scientists say. He is facing allegations that he paid for sexual liaisons with a variety of women, some of whom were potentially underage. He may have also broken the law having young women cross state lines for money and sex. His buddy Joel Greenberg seems to have cut a plea deal after admitting to all kinds of bad and illegal deeds, and claims to have basically acted as a pimp for Mr. Gaetz.

‘Cold-blooded fraudster’: Judge sentences Students for Trump founder to 13 months in prison

A little over two years ago, Tennessee’s own John Lambert, 23 at the time, was charged with being a fraud and pretending he was a veteran lawyer. Like most modern day frauds, Lambert was working his darndest for the Republican cause, organizing “Students for Trump.” Lambert started the group along with fellow Campbell University student Ryan Fournier, shortly after Trump’s nomination in 2016.

Right-wing fraudsters Wohl and Burkman in big trouble as their racist emails surface

The seemingly never-ending saga of Republican fraudsters Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman continues. These two losers have not stopped hitting new lows since coming on the scene as two-bit versions of already two-bit scam artists like Donald Trump and his “garbage can orbit.” They continue to make news because even though their actions would confine most other Americans to sentence after sentence in prison, they remain relatively free to continue to defraud the American public.

Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade acts like a third grader after being schooled by a 6th grader

Calling the Fox News channel a propaganda machine for the right wing of the country is a redundant truism. It may be true that the absolute is relative, and the relative is absolute, but relatively speaking: the on-air personalities at Fox News are about as smart as cobwebs in an attic that refuse to read. On Wednesday, Fox & Friends did their normal morning show where one guy smiles while saying stupid things, and two other people say stupid things while never cracking a smile.

California tells Nestlé to cease-and-desist its water-pumping activities on federal land

There are myriad reasons why bottled water is problematic. Plastic containers are no good for the environment, the costs of bottled water continue to rise even though it is … water. Most importantly, the very existence of bottled water as a private business is only the result of our crumbling infrastructure and misuse of public resources. In recent years, the Nestlé company, and their egregious profiting off of public resources, has been in the news.

‘Science Guy’ Bill Nye would like a word with anti-vaxxers

With over 100 million American adults fully vaccinated, the possibility of our country’s public health situation returning to a baseline of normality felt like it was within reach. Key word: was. Unfortunately, the same crew of people thwarting our progress toward normalcy are the same people who botched the initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, continued to promote anti-science sentiments, and amplified the anti-vaxxer movement.

The NRA’s Wayne LaPierre tried to keep this footage buried for 8 years

The last couple of years at the National Rifle Association have been filled with lawsuits, firings, resignations, and accusations of gross mismanagement of membership money by the top executives of the nonprofit. The NRA filed for bankruptcy in January, in part to get out from under investigations into its dealings by the New York attorney general’s office.

News Roundup: More charges for Chauvin; GOP can’t defend anti-trans bill; Gaetz’s pimp talks

It’s Friday! Another long week filled with news of our country’s march towards normalcy and beyond! The Republican Party continues its attempts to thwart legislation that might actually improve Americans’ lives. As we head into another weekend, there’s always hope because there is a competent administration in office, and as of today, the Republican death cult has no control over the legislative branch.

Ex-Georgia deputy boasted of charging Black people with felonies to make sure they lost their vote

In recent months, as less and less white people support voter suppression and more and more people of color organize around gaining political power, our country has once again reached an inflection point. Republican operatives across the country, long pushing for voter suppression laws that target Black and Latino communities, have decided to be even more overt in their attempts at returning to a pre-Brown v.

‘Rudy, I told you so’: Ex-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen has thoughts about Giuliani’s current situation

Former personal lawyer to twice impeached Donald Trump, is currently serving a 36-month house arrest sentence for his part in orchestrating a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels. The payments were done on behalf of Donald Trump and Michael Cohen’s deal with prosecutors to hand over more evidence of Trump’s dubious dealings has always been considered a ticking time bomb.
